Were hitting the show Sunday bright and early. Announcements from AJA, Newtek, Blackmagic and Matrox will be the first to leak before Monday AM probably. Here are my predictions and notes; and on whats already been announced:
AJA - A new "Ki-Something" product to compliment the KI-Pro Recorder. Im predicting a "Ki-Mini" or "Ki-Cam", which will be a smaller unit more suitable to camera mounting, maybe with HDMI and HD-SDI only. Sorta like the Convergent Design Nano-Flash.
- Also I think a KONA 4 is in order. 3Gbps support, HDMI 1.3A, maybe 4K playback? Some sort of Stereoscopic workflow?
BLACKMAGIC - I'm sure they'll have something in the card/converter line but what those things might be I'm not sure. Im holding my breath for a DaVinci announcement. a $10-$15K software/hardware I/O bundle maybe?
NEWTEK - Another HD Tricaster, maybe 6 inputs? Maybe also a mini version?
MATROX - big news will be the new 4CH capture/playback cards for Mac w/ an open SDK. You'll be able to capture four HD-SDI signals at once!! This will be great for recording multiple live ISO's and/or multiple signal server-style playback. Software guys like Softron are already planning apps for this card.
JVC, Canon, and Panasonic have already played some of their cards by soft announcing some new cameras:
Panasonic HPX370 - Upgraded/ more expensive version of the HPX300 w/ improved CMOS sensor. Expect to also get a good hands on look at the 3D-A1
JVC - announced a new tapeless studio camera- the GY-HM790
Also, take a look at JVC's new production 3D monitors and encoders.
Canon - finally announced tapeless pro video cameras (the XF300/305). No, its not a 5D MII sensor, but it does record 4:2:2 50mbps onto non-proprietary CF cards.
Other stuff to check out: Arri Alexa Camera - native on-board 3.5K RAW or 1080P ProRes4444, whoa.
Lite Panels: a new hybrid Micro Lite for HDSLR's that switches from a video light to a still flash!
Adobe: CS5 - will be in full effect at the show.
Apple - any hinting on FCP 7.5? FCP 8? There's no Apple press release scheduled, so odds are low.
I'll be back after the show with a roundup!
